Regional Municipal Court

Mission, values, mandate

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges regional municipal court is a first hearing court with jurisdiction of original jurisdiction in criminal matters, within the Beauharmois district. Since 1995, the jurisdiction of this court extends over the entire territory of the MRC municipalities. The municipal court serves a population of more than 140,000 citizens, spread out in the 23 municipalities of the territory.

The court has heard statements of offence issued under provincial statutes, namely in the Highway Safety Code, Off Road Vehicle Act and the Owners and Operators of Heavy Vehicles Act.

It also deals with all statements of offence related to the Highway Safety Code issued on numbered roads and submitted to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (municipal statements).
