The MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges celebrated its 30th anniversary

Wednesday, 5 December 2012

On October 18, the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges celebrated its 30th anniversary in the good company of elected officials from the region, its employees, and collaborators such as consultants and partners with whom it interacts on a daily basis. More than 150 guests attended the event.

The MRC was very happy to celebrate its 30 years of existence by organising this event during which the highlights of the past three decades were recounted. The historical recap was done by Mr. Éric Michaud, a storyteller and expert in the art of lying, accompanied by the violinist Mr. Nelson Carter.

Afterwards, Mr. Robert Sauvé, current prefect of the MRC and mayor of Coteau-du-Lac, said a few words to present upcoming projects and challenges in the region.

Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed jazz music by Mr. Christian Leclair and his musicians, who created a festive atmosphere during the whole event.

As the evening progressed, a remarkable surprise awaited the guests. The building hosting the MRC headquarters located at 420 Saint-Charles Avenue is considered a neoclassical architectural treasure, rarely found in Vaudreuil-Soulanges. In daylight, the building is visible from the street, but at night it fades into darkness. A spectacular lighting concept put together by the team of Mr. Mario Pharand, electrician, now allows this heritage building to shine at night. Later on, guests were enthraled by a dynamic ice-sculpting performance by Mr. Nicolas Godon, who unveiled the MRC logo punctuated with a 30th symbol.

To mark the end of the event, each guest was thanked with a parting gift, namely an acer rubrum (Red Maple) shrub, which is indigenous in the region. The gift was offered in a small pot, which can be reused as a candy-holder or a pen-holder, marked with the 30th anniversary logo.
